Thought Leaders on Infrastructure video series.  Himanshu Saxena, MS ’00, Chairman and CEO of Lotus Infrastructure Partners and Member of the CPIP Board of Advisors, describes what will lie ahead in the global decarbonization of energy production. He explains that developed economies will be first to achieve decarbonization. Developing economies are still far away from that goal.  They are still increasing consumption as these countries emerge from poverty.  The developing nations are experiencing the same evolution as industrial economies, and now they are at a much earlier stage.
Wind and solar energy will not be able to completely replace fossil fuels on their own.  Ultimately, the land usage of these technologies will interfere with other industries, such as agriculture.  Instead, a combination of energy technologies will be needed, such as wind, solar, batteries, carbon capture, hydrogen and ammonia.
