Patrick Gibney is Assistant
Professor, Food Science, and The E&J Gallo Sesquicentennial Faculty
Fellow at Cornell University. He received his Ph.D. in Microbiology and
Molecular Genetics from The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He
subsequently undertook postdoctoral research with David Botstein, Ph.D., at
Princeton University and at Calico Life Sciences, a biotech startup in San
Francisco focused on understanding the biology of aging and age-related
diseases.
The Gibney lab is interested in a
variety of research topics that span eukaryotic cell biology to wine
microbiology. Research topics include understanding fundamental aspects
of biology to collaborating with the fermented beverage industry on more
applied projects.
Beyond research, the lab is
interested in training future generations of scientists and educating the
public about the value of scientific research and knowledge (both basic and
applied research).
