Cities would not function without infrastructures (defined broadly) that provide water, energy, food, shelter, waste management, transportation/connectivity and public spaces to more than half the world’s people living in cities today. Urban infrastructures shape multiple sustainability outcomes for cities – including environmental sustainability, human development including economic development, climate risks/resilience and public health. This presentation present A unified inter-disciplinary framework that explores the cross-scale linkages between people, infrastructure and the environment to helps inform the development of environmentally-sustainable and healthy cities. Models and data-sets being explored in Indian and Chinese cities will be presented.
