The conflict that occurs between employees work and their family is an issue of growing importance for employers and employees alike. Research on the topic, however, has often lagged behind the policy prescriptions that organizations have attempted to implement in response to this conflict. Recently, however, research has attempted to bridge this gap by recognizing the complex interplay between work and family, and the ways in which male and female employees experience this interplay differently.
In this webcast, Professor Beth Livingston will share her own research and the research of others in this expanding field. She will explain what exacerbates employee conflict between work and family, what policies work to relieve this conflict, and what issues regarding work and family loom on the horizon. Throughout, the intersections of work/family with gender are discussed.
Steve Miranda, Managing Director of the Center for Advanced Human Resource Studies (CAHRS), Cornell University, ILR School will serve as moderator for this webcast.
