Joseph Kable, Baird Term Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania, examines why we have trouble persisting in some situations and not others. He provides behavioral and neural evidence to support his theory that what is central to persistence is the nature of the temporal uncertainty of the delayed reward.
