Do you ever wonder how are service dogs trained? Why it is you should not pet them or talk to them? What's the difference between a service dog and a therapy and emotional support animal? How can someone get a service dog?
We are pleased to host Kayla Williams for our first session of the Spring 2026 event!! Kayla is an animal science/pre-vet major at Cornell and is pursuing an ASL/Deaf Studies Minor.
Kayla founded Active After Adversity, a 501c3 New Jersey / New York non-profit organization that adopts shelter dogs and trains them into working service dogs for individuals in need for free.
She will explain the training process and goals, as well as how her non-profit works. She will also speak about her newest trainee, Azara, who is training to become a hearing alert service dog for a Cornell professor.
