In this week’s video, Jeff Weiss ’79, Executive Chairman
of Distributed Sun and Member, CPIP Board of Advisors, talks about how the
electrification of transportation will create challenges for the American
electrical grid. Within the next 10-15 years, the size of the grid will
need to double, and new technologies will be needed to support the outdated
underlying infrastructure. Jeff identifies solar as well as other forms
of renewable energy as carbon free solutions for energy generation, but recognizes
the difficulties in shifting the last 20% of electrical supply from fossil
fuels to alternate forms of energy.
