Rhodes Hall, 253 Ezra's Round Table/Systems Seminar: Don Woodlock (GE Healthcare) - Simulation Models at GE We will discuss how General Electric has used simulation modeling to help its business and its customers. Mr. Woodlock will discuss using System Dynamics to help business leaders make strategy choices around R&D investment, resourcing allocation decisions, and growth strategies. He will also show how GE has used agent-based modeling to allow its hospital customers to simulate different physical hospital designs to allow them to build new hospitals based on the optimal design for their goals. Bio: Don Woodlock is currently Senior Vice President and General Manager, Cardiology IT and Digital Pathology IT, a large global segment of our GE Healthcare IT business. These responsibilities include strategy, product development, commercialization activities, and overall market, customer and financial results in this segment. Our CVIT business delivers high-value enterprise imaging, workflow, and administrative IT solutions for Cardiology service lines including Cath Labs, CV Ultrasound, Electrophysiology, Peripheral Vascular, and Nuclear Medicine. This business has about 2700 customers in all regions of the world, hundreds of employees globally, and is currently on a strong double-digit organic growth path. Also responsible for the commercialization activities of Omnyx, a digital pathology company, GE’s Joint Venture with the University of Pittsburg Medical Center. Prior to this role, Don was responsible for driving key growth and transformation initiatives for the company including Digital Pathology, Image Exchange, emerging market development, and Product Management transformation. For the previous five years, Don was responsible for a several hundred million dollar business serving multiple hospital departments including radiology, cardiology, pathology, labor and delivery, ICU, and ORs with advanced clinical IT solutions. Don has served in the Healthcare IT space for 24 years in nearly all segments of the market including managed care systems, revenue cycle management, electronic medical records for inpatient and ambulatory environments, departmental clinical systems, and image management and workflow systems. In addition Don is the most popular video lecturer on System Dynamics in the world – currently with over 61,000 views. Don holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He currently lives in the Chicago area with his wife and two children. His hobbies include running, playing guitar and spending time with his family.
