Avery Garcia is a senior in the College of Human Ecology majoring in Global and Public Health
Sciences with a minor in Health Equity. She is passionate about health policy, epidemiology,
and health disparities. Through a research opportunity with the Mehta Research Group
at Cornell University, Avery conducted quantitative research during the Spring and Summer of
2020 on the impacts of exposure to Zika virus on child neurodevelopment and behavioral
abnormalities. She also worked on a living systematic review to determine the possibility of
SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) transmission through breast milk on infection-free infants. Contact
