Join
CIDA for a roundtable discussion on cross-college, collaborative courses, and
the development of DA curriculum. Faculty from VIEN 4940- Robots, Food,
and Wine, DSOC 4060/6020- Digital Capitalism, AEM 4880 - Global Food, Energy,
and Water Nexus, and ANSC 3510- Dairy Herd Management will
provide an overview of their courses and their perspective on co-teaching
across different disciplines and colleges. The discussion will focus on
challenges encountered in collaborative, cross-college courses, lessons learned
from experience, and the future for collaborative courses and DA curriculum at
Cornell and in academia.
Bios:
Renata
Ivanek (moderator) is an associate professor in population medicine and
diagnostic sciences (CVM).
Kirstin
Petersen, an Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering (COE)
will discuss her collaborative course, VIEN 4940- Robots, Food, and Wine, that
she co-teaches with Justine Vanden Heuvel, professor of Horticulture in the
School of Integrative Plant Sciences (CALS).
Jenny
Goldstein, assistant professor of Development Sociology (CALS) will discuss
DSOC 4060/6020- Digital Capitalism, a course that was originally developed and
co-taught with Rebecca Slayton, associate professor of Science and Technology
Studies (CAS).
Julio
Giordano, associate professor of Animal Science (CALS) will discuss ANSC 3510-
Dairy Herd Management, a collaborative course taught with Ken Birman, professor
of Computer Science (CIS).
Xingen
Lei, professor of Animal Science (CALS) will discuss AEM 4880 - Global Food,
Energy, and Water Nexus, a collaborative and internationally taught course that
includes enrollment from Cornell students and students in Asia, that he
co-teaches with Dennis Miller, Professor of Food Science (CALS), Prabhu
Pingali, Professor of Applied Economics and Development (JCB), and Jeff Tester,
Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (COE).
