Our world’s most urgent challenges cannot be solved with the status quo;
complex problems require new ways of thinking. This past year, CALS
called on its faculty to pitch their proposals for a set of
transdisciplinary moonshot initiatives designed to be innovative and
solve some of the most-pressing issues facing our planet.
The 2023 Liberty Hyde Bailey Lecture showcased these boundary-breaking ideas.
From
mitigating emissions from livestock to biodiversity-powered solutions,
from advancing controlled environment agriculture to achieving
environmental justice, CALS faculty members, in brief presentations, will discuss their initiatives that will shape the future
in how we adapt to an everchanging world.
An audience
question-and-answer session, moderated by Benjamin Z. Houlton, the
Ronald P. Lynch Dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences,
follows the presentations.
